We have been using this company for the last 18years. Each year they have provided a perfect Victorian replica of the one remaining original window when we moved in. The difference being these windows are fitting perfectly, double glazed. Thin bars and utterly brilliant. Once they are made, they are installed carefully, with due consideration to the surrounding walls making good as they go any defects(few) to achieve a perfect finish with minimal surrounding damage

If you have a period cottage or house and need windows that are in keeping, then Copycats are the people to go to. They made me some timber and leaded light windows for my farm cottage and I’m delighted that they look exactly like the original ones. The only difference is that they are now double glazed and I’m about 2 degrees warmer and I no longer need to have a towel on the window ledge to mop up the water getting in.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this incredible firm. In fact, Bromley council recommended them to me as I live in a conservation area and so cannot make dramatic changes to my windows. Last year, Copycats replaced a rotten lower sash window and draught-proofed the whole in a bedroom. Pleased with that work, we have just had Simon round to change utility room clear glass to frosted and to draught-proof both this and a kitchen sash window. We first used Copycats 18 years ago to have exact copies of our pretty but rotten windows made (mostly sash windows, but some casements). The quality of the work was outstanding and none of the 10 windows that we had refurbished or remade has given us any problems since. This year, Simon has made two new casement windows for a different part of the house, and again, the windows are extremely well-made. Simon made good after fitting the windows to a very high standard, so the actual disruption in having the work done has been absolutely minimal. It is difficult to find craftsmen like this, and it is well worth the wait for Simon to become free.

We engaged Copycats to replace our front door and the whole frame, including leaded and borrowed lights, in the front entrance of our Victorian property. We loved the original entrance, but it was so draughty! Simon and his guys made a new frame and door to match the original and encapsulated the leaded lights in double-glazed units, thus keeping the much-loved feature glass but in a much less draughty setting! We were very impressed with Copycats; the expertise of the craftsmen, the quality of the joinery and their professionalism and friendliness throughout sets them apart from others. Highly recommended.

Simon had already installed double glazing at the back of our house and serviced all the Victorian box-sash windows at the front, so we knew Copycats would provide a professional service when we came to consider better insulation at these front windows. I'm glad we took Simon's advice and considered secondary glazing. We sacrificed a little thermal insulation but got much better sound insulation and preserved the 1870s sashes and glass untouched. The old issues of condensation have been eliminated, and the installation is unobtrusive - we have already forgotten that the units are in place. All in all, a result that has exceeded our expectations.

We replaced about a third of the house windows. We wanted to keep the character of the existing windows but have the new ones double-glazed. The new windows are superbly finished, and they took so much care when fitting, as it’s an old house. Having Simon and his team working in our house was no trouble at all, and always cleaned up at the end of the day. I have already recommended Copycats to a few people, and hopefully, I'll be getting some more windows made next year.

We had a requirement for a small but quite tricky winder staircase with bespoke dimensions, curves, tapers, and no slack to play with. A number of companies couldn't cope with the complex aspects, others quoted 'silly' prices. Copycats grasped what we were after quickly, made useful comments and produced a competitive quote with terms of payment that showed their confidence. The work was done as scheduled, installation was fast, and the work absolutely up to expectations. Would have no hesitation in recommending, after all, what more could one want?

In 2009, Copycats was commissioned to conduct renovation work and to provide additional draft-proofing on aged wooden window frames at our Grade II listed barn conversion home in East Sussex. The work was carried out promptly and to spec and to our complete satisfaction.

In 2012, the acquisition of a 14" polished gunmetal ship's bell of nautical and historical importance required the design and construction of a suitable display stand. Copycats was instructed, and they approached this project with enthusiasm, artistic subtlety and sympathy, providing the design and construction of a magnificent solid oak display belfry, truly in keeping with the bell's lines and its history.

We cannot praise Copycats enough, their work is always top-notch.

We've used them for many years to provide all our replacement windows, doors and, where we've been able to retain the original windows, wooden secondary glazing. Our house is a 1850s lodge, and has unique, unusual joinery - and made more awkward by the fact that all the windows open inwards. We've now got the house on the market, and several estate agents have commented how good the work is - one said that our wooden secondary glazing is the "Rolls-Royce of secondary glazing". It's also been energy-rated as "D," which is very high for an old property.

Last summer, John, from Copycats, fitted 5 new double-glazed sash windows to replicate the original Victorian windows of my maisonette. The windows look fantastic, and they work really well. The fitting took one week, and John cleaned up the work area every day and took great care to protect the walls and furniture. I was recommended to speak to Copycats by a friend. We had looked at uPVC double-glazed sash windows, but they looked too big. Copycats quoted an estimate, then came and measured up and from day one, the service has been exceptional. Quoted 4 days took 3 days. The house was left spotless, and we are left with gorgeous, original-looking double-glazed draught-proofed sash windows. Highly recommended. Don't hesitate to get them around today.

I would like to take the opportunity to compliment you on the excellent standard of work that you and your team carried out on my house. The difference in noise levels in the lounge is very noticeable, and I am pleased by the performance of the acoustic glass as well as the draught-proofing and sealing that you implemented. In the front bedroom, the difference in noise levels with the secondary glazing is dramatic. We can now return to using the room as a bedroom.

Whilst writing, I would say that we had one of the sashes you replaced, done by a competitor organisation just three years ago. It had rotted almost through its entire depth, and I have to say that, now that I have seen the Copycats treatment, the draught proofing was done quite amateurishly by the other firm. I'd like to pass on my appreciation to Copycats for the wonderful new Georgian sash windows which have been recently fitted at my Grade II Listed home.

I did wonder, at many points throughout the whole arduous process, if the task of obtaining listed building consent, meeting conservation area restrictions and just dealing with the general snobbery attached to the idea of allowing Georgian double-glazed sash windows was going to be worth it. However, I am delighted to say that it was.

The Georgian bars are very delicate and look superb. As a result, our 17th-century home now has an original look and feel that everyone is happy with, whilst providing the benefits of double-glazing, which is an added bonus when you live right next door to Heathrow.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Copycats to anyone considering renovating or replacing their sash windows. Being a small company, you might have to wait for your windows, but it's a wait that's extremely worthwhile. Very good value for money and a personal service that gives you the windows that you are looking for! What more can a customer ask for?
